client software and OS scan is not showing in database - Solved/Old Lansweeper issues

Hi,

I run lsclient on client machines (XP Pro SP2). and they connected successfully. Connection tool also indicates all OK. Some Machines show up in web Console computer list but says "never scanned" OS or software. Rerun lsclient and shows as "last seen" correctly but still does not scan OS or software. Defaults set for scanning schedule are set to 0. Also tried setting to 1 day with same result. Is there a way to iniate a scan or change the timing of the scan. Does lanSweeper only scan when triggered or does scan to the defaults after the initial scan?

Also we are considering purchasing but boss wants to see the premimum version tools tested . Do you have a way that we can test ??

Ok here it is.. btw.. the client station a130647 shows up fine (OS and software has been scanned) . And it does have some DNS lookup issues which we are fising. It is other stations that are not showing and not hitting this log either.

I have run the lsclient on all machines. both from a login script and also copied the client to the c: and ran from there using "lsclient.exe 10.11.68.47" (ip address of the lansweeper server).

Yes, when I run the client directly from the workstation is shows "success". The machines show up "not in red" but nothing is scanned. They are all XP Pr XP2. a mix of Dell and HP.

no errors in log.. Computer Icon stays red, opening computer indicates that OS and software never scanned. Connection test is OK on all parameters. ran lsclient from machine and connection was successful.

Addditionally I have run the client from new computers (not in database) and also tested the connection with success. No errors in log and computer does not show up in database.

I believe wmi is working on the clients as I can get into them remotely with Dameware.

yes. RPC not available error. However when I run the connection tester, it reports all tests as being OK. additionally I can do anything with that client using Dameware remote control or RDP desktop. forward and reverse dns is fine

no, we are not using SBS. This is a small OU segment (250 computers) of a very large AD site

We have the firewalls all turned off via a GPO. They are off and disabled. FYI, When a GPO policy is put in place turning off the firewall in XP sp2 the "computer browser" service will time out after 5 minutes and stop. Microsoft provides a hotfix patch for this (kb889320). Don't know if this has any bearing on the problem here but I thought I would mention it. We have applied the hotfix to all machines in the forest. I have also applied a registry entry (ole)to all workstations in this OU to insure proper permissions and settings are applied to remote access etc. I have inventoried 180 workstations with 42 never scanned for software or OS.

Here are some of the latest error log entries of some of the workstations. These show up as OK in the scans (Web interface). The 42 others just show errors in the web interface (WMIerror- The RPC Server is unavailable) and do not show up in the error log. Again these 42 check out OK using the connection tester.

1st. Did a DNS audit and found that for this OU in the forest the DNS servers were not updting correctly. Problem was "who" owned the record, the WS or DHCP. OUr servers were not set up with the DNSPROXYUPDATE group having a enterprise admin "user" in it. Addtiionally DHCP continunity was set at 0 so DHCP did not check to see if a address was taken. Bottom line there were a lot of errors.

Secondly, I created a reg file with the proper OLE permission, remote registry enabled, etc. to apply to the work
